Why a Total Body Cleanse Is Essential to Maintaining Optimal Physical and Mental Health

It's time to give your health a boost with a total body cleanse that will restore physical stamina and improve mental clarity.

Our bodies are constantly being bombarded by toxins found in our food, water, and the air we breathe. All these contaminants and impurities hinder the functions of our organs and blood cells and prevent our digestive, respiratory, circulatory, and glandular systems from operating as effectively as they should. And, when our bodies are not functioning efficiently, we can be robbed of essential nutrients and begin to feel sluggish, irritated, or unhealthy.

Too often, we spend a lot of time and energy focusing on the outside of our bodies while neglecting to clean, maintain, or rebuild the inside. Whether you are suffering from a serious illness or wanting to feel more energetic and alert, a total cleanse can help restore the body and stimulate its natural ability to heal itself.

There are several total body cleanse options available, all of them offering many amazing benefits that leave you feeling better on the inside, looking better on the outside, and enjoying a clearer mind with improved decision making abilities.

Regular use of a detox tea will help break down and flush toxins from your body, eliminating parasites and disease causing bacteria and improving energy. A good quality tea also calms the digestive system and aids in weight loss.

An ionic foot soak is a great way to cleanse the body and reduce the effects of both mental and physical stress. The foot soak can also help build stronger immunity, normalize blood pressure, improve sleep, and heal skin conditions.

Many health issues such as kidney damage, hair loss, or joint pain have been associated with heavy metal contamination. Using detox foot pads will help draw these dangerous metals from the body and allow your systems to reverse toxic damage.

Since good health often begins in the colon, use a colon cleanse regularly to purify your body and keep it functioning as efficiently as possible. Cleansing the colon improves the absorption of vital nutrients, restores beneficial bacteria, and helps the body fight against disease and viruses. Also, by maintaining a clean digestive tract, your body is better able to detoxify itself and help you achieve optimal health.

From eliminating waste in your glands, joints, muscles, and blood, to cleaning your kidneys, restoring youth and elasticity, relieving pressure on your nerves, or purifying your glands and cells, a regular total body cleanse can offer many benefits that are essential to maintaining physical and mental health. If you feel lethargic, unable to stay focused or think clearly, or are suffering from chronic pain and frequent illness, then it is time to regain control of your health.

Adrenal Stress Tests Can Help Identify Many Physical And Mental Health Conditions

Have you've been living with a chronic health condition that hasn't been getting better? Are you dealing with a lot of stress in your life? If so, the culprit may be adrenal fatigue. Adrenal fatigue or stress can have a negative impact on your overall health. Perhaps the most important adrenal hormone is cortisol. Cortisol regulates key functions in your body, including glucose levels, blood pressure, immune system response, and sleep cycles. The more stress you are under in your daily life, the more cortisol your adrenal glands will have to produce. Prolonged exposure to low levels of stress can overwork the adrenal glands, causing them to become fatigued and secrete less cortisol. When this happens, your body becomes less able to deal with stress - a Catch-22 situation which can be detrimental to your health and well-being. Adrenal stress testing helps to identify adrenal fatigue, which lies at the root of numerous physical and mental health concerns.

Why Do I Need an Adrenal Stress Test?

Your body has two adrenal glands, which are located just above the kidneys. These tiny glands play a big role in the proper functioning of the body, responsible for the secretion of more than 50 hormones that are necessary for your health and well being. In fact, your adrenal glands produce many of the essential hormones you need to stay alive. When your adrenal glands are not functioning normally, you may experience a variety of symptoms, including:

Allergies

    Craving salty/sweet foods
    Decreased sex drive
    Fatigue
    Hypoglycemia
    Inability to deal with stress
    Lack of energy
    Lightheadedness
    Loss of body hair
    Low blood pressure
    Mood swings
    Muscle aches/joint pain
    Sensitivity to cold
    Thyroid issues
    Unexplained weight loss

People experiencing any of these symptoms should schedule an appointment for adrenal stress testing immediately.

Treatments for Adrenal Fatigue

If your adrenal stress assessment reveals an inappropriate hormonal stress response, it is necessary to begin stress reduction treatments. Treating adrenal fatigue typically involves taking supplements, such as Vitamins C and E, calcium, and magnesium; making dietary changes, such as an increased intake of vegetables and sea salt and an avoidance of junk foods; and getting regular exercise. These small changes to your lifestyle will improve adrenal functioning, making your body better prepared to deal with stress.

Doctors who practice conventional medicine are only trained to diagnose extreme adrenal dysfunction, such as Addison's disease or Cushing's disease. Naturopathic medicine, however, offers a solution for diagnosing less severe cases of adrenal exhaustion. Through saliva testing, naturopathic practitioners can evaluate adrenal functioning and provide natural treatment options to prevent stress-related diseases and to improve the overall functioning of your body. If you believe you may be suffering from adrenal fatigue, schedule an appointment for adrenal stress testing at a natural medicine clinic in your area today.

Are Physical and Mental Health Linked?

People nowadays spend a lot of time at the gym, running or doing other exercises to better their physical health and get a good figure. Although maintaining your physical health is all well and good, many people tend to overlook the benefits and importance of mental health and even how the two coexist.

Sure, the difference between mental and physical well being is relatively obvious and straightforward, however their similarities and how are they connected may be a little more elusive.

Mental health and a sound state-of-mind, in fact, are just as important to your overall health as working out, correct diet and doing "cardio" and actually affects how well all of those things maintain your physical health. Speaking generally, in 2009 a research team in the United Kingdom concluded that mental fatigue leads to the body becoming fatigued faster (Mental and Physical Health). Why? The answer is simple but multifaceted:

Firstly, mental exhaustion inhibits the mind's ability to motivate itself and to push through a physically draining task. That being the case, if you are in a sound mental state, and you go running, your mind will be ample prepared to push your body further and harder, past the initial signs of fatigue. On the flip side of that coin, if you are mentally tired, frustrated or distracted, your mind, chemically (due to the decreased levels of dopa-mine), will not be able to find the motivation to push your body, leading to a shorter, less productive workout.

Secondly, we can see a similar aspect of the issue from the perspective of apathy, which often arises when someone is not in sound mental well being. Take the example of an emotionally distressed person, being asked about something not particularly important to them. Their answer to questions such as: "What do you think about this?" or "What should we do in this situation?" will most likely be: "I don't care" or "It doesn't matter". Similarly to our first point above, the indifference caused by the person's mental state, which I am sure we have all felt, directly affects their physical state when the questions become internalized: "Should I workout today?", "Should I cook myself something healthy?" or "That portion looks a little too big for me."

That being said, it is easy to understand how, while physical and mental health are not identical, they are, without a doubt, deeply intertwined and rely heavily on each other. While physical health may be seen as a chemical or biological state of the human body, it dictates how well your body moves, reacts to stimuli and how well you focus on things. Thus, with poor physical health, your mental health will suffer. Similarly, mental health may seem unrelated and not as important, because it is intangible and harder to regulate, but mental health has a direct effect on the body's ability to overcome difficult physical tasks (the heart of doing any physical workout) as well as heavily affecting one's ability to motivate themselves to do anything.
